Bonecas e manequins: a promoção de moda no século XIX e início do século XX
Palavras-chave: This paper investigates the use of the body as a media of fashion promotion in late 19th century and early 20th century. It focuses specifically as creators and haute couture businesses instituted promotional practices that reflected the connection with the modernity codes of the period and created using the cultural codes of this time. It positions fashion promotion in urban space through the flow of people and objects that represent the human body. The theoretical support is George Simmel’s theory of imitation versus distinction, and the idea of La Rocca on the influence of spaces on the representation of the body.
