Jogo e Riso: O Coringa e o uso da cidade

A partir do filme Batman: o cavaleiro das trevas (EUA, 2008), de Christopher Nolan, pretende-se analisar como o conflito entre os personagens Batman e Coringa reflete numa disputa pela cidade. Se a função do super-herói é conservar a ordem vigente, sua práxis está voltada para a manutenção do status quo. Contudo, o próprio Coringa admite que inexiste sem Batman. Tal contradição aponta que o direito à cidade de Gotham só é possível quando a disputa herói-vilão não mais subjugar esse espaço. Assim, não se trata de optar entre Batman ou Coringa, mas de usar seu embate no processo reflexivo para a emancipação da cidade.

The paper analyzes Christopher Nolan’s Batman: the dark knight (USA, 2008), specifically how the conflict between characters Batman and Joker reflects a dispute over the city. If the function of the superhero is to preserve the prevailing order, his praxis is focused on maintaining the status quo. However, the Joker himself admits that he does not exist without Batman. Such a contradiction suggests that the right to the city of Gotham is only possible when the hero-villain dispute no longer subjugates this space. Thus, it is not a question of choosing between Batman or the Joker, but of using their conflict in the reflexive process for the emancipation of the city.
